RENEE MACLEOD, MSW, LSWAIC
I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel seen, heard, and supported. As a plus-size Black woman, I understand how our identities, lived experiences, and the systems around us can shape the way we see ourselves and move through the world. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, high-functioning burnout, life transitions, identity exploration, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can be a place to heal, grow, and reconnect with yourself.
You deserve a space where you can show up exactly as you are—without judgment. Together, we'll explore what may be holding you back while building the tools to help you move toward your goals.
My style is warm, collaborative, and authentic. Some days you may need a space to vent, while other days we'll focus on developing practical strategies, challenging unhelpful patterns, or exploring new perspectives. Whether you know exactly what you want to work on or you're still figuring it out, we'll navigate the process together.
I use a trauma-informed, person-centered, culturally responsive, and Afrocentric approach, integrating evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Attachment Theory, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Therapy with me is both compassionate and direct—I will gently challenge you while offering empathy, honesty, and encouragement.
I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable bringing their full selves. My practice is affirming of diverse identities, relationships, and expressions, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, consensual non-monogamy and polyamory, kink/BDSM communities, and those exploring sexuality, intimacy, body image, or self-esteem. I believe healing happens when people feel accepted rather than judged, and I am committed to creating a space where your experiences are respected and understood.
While I am especially passionate about supporting Black individuals and other historically marginalized communities, I welcome clients from all backgrounds. I believe healing should honor every person's unique cultural identities, lived experiences, values, and relationships, and I am committed to providing care that is inclusive, affirming, sex-positive, kink-aware, poly-affirming, and culturally responsive.
Healing doesn't require perfection—it requires feeling safe enough to be yourself. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can build insight, strengthen resilience, and create a life that feels aligned with who you are.
