Individual Counseling

Playful Minds clinicians come from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. It can be confusing to understand all of the different letters after people's names! We have Licensed Mental Health Counselors, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists on our team. We also have Associate licensed therapists who are under direct supervision of one of our highly skilled clinical supervisors. All of these disciplines are well trained to provide counseling and therapy to our clients. What you can rely on is that our providers approach counseling and therapy from a lens of cultural humility, non-judgment, compassion, and authenticity. Family Counseling

Families are complex, ever-evolving systems, and challenges can arise at any stage of life. Whether you’re facing communication breakdowns, life transitions, or conflict between family members, therapy provides a supportive space to foster understanding, heal wounds, and build stronger connections. Family therapy is beneficial for a wide range of concerns, including: ✔ Improving Communication – Learn to express thoughts and feelings openly and respectfully. ✔ Navigating Conflict – Resolve tensions and develop healthier ways to handle disagreements. ✔ Supporting Mental Health – Help family members struggling with anxiety, depression, or other challenges in a way that strengthens relationships. ✔ Coping with Life Changes – Adjust to transitions such as divorce, blending families, grief, or relocation. ✔ Building Secure Attachments ✔Strengthen emotional bonds and create a supportive, nurturing family environment.
Couples Counseling

Couples counseling is a collaborative process designed to help partners navigate challenges, improve communication, and strengthen their relationship. Whether you’re facing ongoing conflicts, life transitions, or simply want to deepen your connection, therapy provides a supportive space to explore and grow together. Unlike individual therapy, couples counseling focuses on the relationship itself rather than diagnosing one person with a mental health condition. The goal is to foster mutual understanding, develop healthier patterns, and create lasting change for both partners. Most insurance plans require a diagnosis for coverage, meaning therapy must focus on treating a mental health condition in one partner rather than addressing the relationship as a whole. This model does not align with the purpose of couples counseling, which is centered on the dynamic between both individuals—not the pathology of one.

We provide private supervision for all Master's level practitioners (LMHCA, LMFTA, and LIACSW), in-house clinical supervision to associates who join our team, and "supervision of supervision" for those working towards the requirements of becoming an approved clinical supervisor in Washington State. We also work with fully licensed providers who are looking for as needed or ongoing consultation. Please email sivie@playful-minds-seattle.com for more information.
